Annie STAAR#4318, 2 yrs

Annie is a wonderful, obedience trained Aussie, in spite of being deaf. She is a beautiful blue merle with copper and white, has two blue eyes, a docked tail, and a very sweet smile. She is the product of a merle to merle breeding that landed her and several deaf littermates in rescue. She was adopted into a loving home, and her owner did a FABULOUS job of obedience training her for the last 18 months, using a remote training collar, working very closely with a certified trainer. Annie knows, sit, down, stay, come, heel, off, get out of the kitchen, go outside, back up, drop it, and she is crate trained. In fact, her owner recently taught her to open her own crate door and get in. I have pictures! She has been well socialized with adults, children, and loves to rough house with the dogs. She is just a fabulous house dog, and she was taught to stay off the furniture. Annie and her owner have attended weekly group obedience practice sessions for over a year. Unfortunately her owner was in an accident, and she can no longer care for Annie. What a heartbreak!
Annie is energetic, full of joy, and a lover that can wiggle her buns like no other. She is the fastest running dog I've ever fostered. She can retrieve whatever you'll throw for as long as you'll throw it. She LOVES to race the other dogs through our agility tunnel, and she reportedly loves to jump right off the dock into the lake, or even just lay in a kiddie pool. Annie is a true athlete, confident and biddable.
She will come with her remote collar and a training consultation to make sure her new owner really understands what Annie knows and how to communicate well with her. It is only fair that Annie get to keep using the communication system she has learned so well.
Owning a deaf dog comes with some extra responsibility in order to keep them safe from cars and things they can't hear, but Annie's previous owner did so much great work, that living with Annie is almost like living with a typical Aussie. In fact, one benefit is that she's not afraid of loud noises or fireworks. Potential adopters must have a fenced yard and be willing to travel to Boise, Idaho to meet Annie in person. Please fill out an application to adopt at www.staar.org prior to contacting Tiffany.
